Front Door Installation in Shadeland Lexington KY | Added Style and Security
Project Overview
We recently completed a front door installation in a classic ranch-style home in the Shadeland neighborhood of Lexington, KY. This quiet, tree-lined area is known for its well-kept mid-century homes, and the homeowner wanted a door upgrade that would improve both curb appeal and energy efficiency. The previous door was an older wood model with signs of weathering and poor insulation. We replaced it with a new fiberglass entry door that provides better performance and a stylish, updated appearance.
Customer Challenge
The existing front door had warped slightly over time and didn’t close properly during cold months. Air drafts were noticeable, and the hardware was outdated. The homeowner also disliked the door’s worn finish, which detracted from the home’s overall look. Replacing the door had to be done carefully, as the opening was a bit nonstandard and the storm door frame needed adjustment. The customer wanted a secure, attractive solution without making major structural changes.
Our Approach
We recommended a fiberglass entry door with a wood-grain texture and decorative glass panel to match the home’s style. Fiberglass offers the charm of a wood appearance but with much better insulation and resistance to warping or cracking. The door was prehung and came with energy-efficient weatherstripping built in. After removing the old door and frame, we found some minor rot at the bottom of the opening, which we repaired before setting the new frame. We adjusted the storm door frame slightly to align with the new setup and added foam insulation around the jamb to prevent air leaks. New satin nickel hardware was installed, including a deadbolt, to increase security.

Inside, the homeowner reports a noticeable improvement in indoor temperature—no more drafts or cold spots near the entry. The fiberglass surface is easy to maintain and stands up well to Lexington’s changing seasons. This door installation also boosted the home’s overall efficiency and safety. The customer was thrilled with the result and appreciated how quickly and cleanly the project was completed.
