The Challenge

The existing flooring was outdated ceramic tile with cracking grout and a slick surface when wet. The tiles were cold underfoot and hard to clean, making everyday chores like laundry less pleasant. Our Vinyl Flooring Approach

We recommended a premium gray Luxury Vinyl Tile with a soft stone texture. This product offered the perfect balance of elegance and practicality. Instead of removing the ceramic tile, we prepped the surface by cleaning, scuffing, and filling the grout lines with a self-leveling underlayment. This created a smooth, solid base for the floating vinyl planks.

The LVT planks were installed in a staggered pattern to mimic traditional tile layout. The installation covered the laundry area and extended into the mudroom entry, stopping at the hardwood threshold. We sealed the edges with color-matched caulk to prevent moisture intrusion and installed low-profile transitions for a seamless flow between rooms. Throughout the process, we kept the workspace sealed and clean, completing the entire project in just over a day with minimal disruption to the household.
