Window Installation in Shadeland Lexington KY | Energy-Efficient Upgrade

Project Overview

We recently completed a window installation project in a mid-century brick ranch located in the Shadeland neighborhood of Lexington, KY. Like many homes in this area, the house still had its original single-pane aluminum windows, which were drafty and difficult to open. The homeowners wanted to improve energy efficiency, reduce noise, and enhance the overall appearance of the home. We replaced all front-facing windows with new double-pane vinyl units that offered modern performance while matching the traditional style of the home.

Customer Challenge

The original windows were over 50 years old and had seen better days. They let in drafts during the winter, created condensation issues in cold weather, and added to the home’s energy bills. One bedroom window was particularly hard to open and posed a safety concern. Additionally, the aging aluminum frames had oxidized and detracted from the home’s curb appeal. The homeowners wanted new windows that would address these problems, but they didn’t want anything that would look too modern or stand out against the home’s classic Shadeland architecture.

Our Approach

We recommended high-efficiency vinyl replacement windows with low-E glass and argon gas fill for insulation. The frames were ordered in a soft white color to coordinate with the existing trim. Our team removed the old windows carefully to avoid disturbing the surrounding brickwork. We replaced six windows across the front and side of the house, including two larger living room units and four bedroom and hallway windows. The new windows were installed with insulated foam around the frames to prevent drafts, and we sealed each unit inside and out for a tight fit. Exterior trim was capped in aluminum to match the new frames and eliminate the need for repainting.

This window installation dramatically improved the home’s comfort and appearance. The homeowners noticed an immediate reduction in outside noise and temperature swings.
